Can anyone shed any light on why it would be doing this and how to fix it? This phono has no anti-skate adjustment built into the tonearm. Now, I'm thinking that this has something to do with the cueing system, but I'm not really sure. When this phono gets close to the end of a record, it will skip and keep playing the same part over and over. Should I move it to 1.5g? Or is there a better cartridge for this phono?ģ. It is recommended that the stylus weight for this cartridge be between 1.0-1.5 grams. It has an Audio-Technica AT-331LP cartridge that came with it. If I stomp on the ground fairly hard anywhere in the room, the phono will skip. I have already set up the counterweight using a stylus force scale.Ģ. I cannot find an owner's manual anywhere. Should I change out the power cord to a more modern fused type? What about lubrication? I've found the service manual online which is basically just a parts list. Is there anything I should do straight away before using it too much? I've tested it, and it seems to work generally well. I have a couple of questions regarding this phono.ġ. The arm up/down lever works and so does the cut switch. Sometimes you can find original replacements on eBay or you can try the Sorbothane aftermarket replacement feet.Recently picked up a Pioneer PL-25 in good condition. The rubber tends to degrade over time and the feet become brittle and break. The feet can be a problem with the PL-514 and a few other Pioneer turntables as well. There is also a Pl-514X version which is exactly similar to the PL-514 only it has a black base and control cover. If it is running a little too fast then the belt is probably not quite the right size. There is no speed control for the PL-514. This big and heavy unit is in outstanding overall cosmetic condition. You will find the sound quality to be exceptionally good and very pleasing to the ear. A top quality Shure M44-7 cartridge with a brand new stylus is mounted on the tonearm. This unit was just serviced and is in perfect working order.
